DAY 1: ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive Delhi International Airport, after meet and greet by local tour manager, transfer to hotel.

DAY 2: IN DELHI
After breakfast depart for full day city tour of Delhi. Begin with a visit to Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation was cremated in 1948. Thereafter proceed to the magnificent Red Fort (closed on Mondays) built of red sandstone, dating from the very peak of the Mughal power. Then, Rickshaw Ride through Chandni Chowk. After that, visit to black and white onion domes and minarets of the Jama Masjid, the most elegant mosque in India. After Lunch, drive past RashtrapatiBhavan (the Presidential Palace) and the Secretariat buildings – the centre of Government activity, down to the impressive Rajpath (the main avenue), to the World War I memorial arch, India Gate, the High Court Building and the Old Fort. Visit Humayun’s Tomb built in 1565 AD by his grieving widow Haji Begum, the QutubMinar, a 72 metres high minaret and the ruins of Quwat-ul-Eslam (Light of Islam) Mosque. Here, see Delhi’s most curious antique, the uncorroded Iron Pillar, which dates back to the 4th century AD.

DAY 3: DELHI-LUDHIANA TRAIN
After breakfast, transfer to railway station and Ludhiana bound train. Later in the morning arrive Ludhiana railway station and transfer to hotel. Later visit Mudki, where the first encounter between the Sikh and British troops took place on 18th December, 1845 on the south bank of the Sutlej River in the Punjab. Also visit the Ferozeshah war memorial-cum-museum set up in 1976 by Punjab Government. It houses the portraits of important historical personalities, battle scenes along with some of the weapons by artists Jaswant Singh and Kirpal Singh.From there we drive a short distance to Ferozeshah battle site where the war was fought on 21st December 1845. It was fought between Generals Sir Hugh Gough and Sir Henry Hardinge against Lal Singh and Tej Singh. Later in the afternoon return to Ludhiana.

DAY 4: LUDHIANA – AMRITSAR DRIVE (200 KM)
After breakfast, we check-out from hotel and drive a short distance to Aliwal where a fierce battle took place on 28th January 1846 between British troops of the Bengal Presidency against Sikhs of the Khalsa, the army of the Punjab. From here we drive further towards Sabraon which witnessed ferocious battle on 10thFebruary 1846, involving Major General Sir Hugh Gough accompanied by General Sir Henry Hardinge( Governor General of Bengal) against Sikh ruler Tej Singh. Arrive Amritsar and check-in at hotel.

DAY 5: IN AMRITSAR
After breakfast, we will explore the holiest Sikh Shrine – The Golden temple. The architecture of this place is a blend of the Hindu and Muslim styles. Then visit Jalianwalabagh, noted for its most notorious massacre under British rule, where about 1500 people, who were non-violent protesters and Basaki (Harvest) pilgrims, were fired at on 13th April 1919, on the orders of Brigadier General Dyer. We may also pay a visit to nearby Durgania Hindu temple, which is smaller replica of the Golden temple. Remainder of the day is at leisure for personal activities. In the evening visit Indo – Pak (Wagha) border to witness the change of guard.

DAY 6: AMRITSAR – DHARAMSALA DRIVE (200KM)
Morning after breakfast depart and drive to Dharamsala, the old British hill station. On arrival an orientation walk will be organized which will include the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, the Buddhist Namgyal Monastery known locally as Little Lhasa, and the Kalachakra Temple.

DAY 7: IN DHARAMSALA
Morning spent in McLeodganj. If the Dalai Lama is giving one of his occasional public speech, we may be lucky enough to be granted permission to attend. The afternoon is left free for further personal exploration in the town. Alternatively can walk out to one of the temples in the surrounding hills, the closest being the Bhagsunath Temple with its small pool, attractive waterfall and spectacular views.

DAY 8: DHARAMSALA – SHIMLA
Through country roads, via lush green Kangra Valley and passing through Jawalamukhi (if time allows, we may visit the famous Jawaljee temple), Hamirpur, Bilaspur we arrive Shimla, the British summer capital. Transfer to hotel.

DAY 9: IN SHIMLA
Whole day to explore Shimla leisurely. Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, situated at a height of 2,100 mts.Visit Kufri, Narkanda and Mall Road. Relics of styles of building long forgotten in Britain are still evident here

DAY 10: SHIMLA-DELHI BY TRAIN
SHIMLA– KALKA BY TOY TRAIN
KALKA – DELHI BY TRAIN
In the morning, travel from Shimla to Kalka by Toy Train and then transfer to railway station for Delhi bound train.
About Kalka -Shimla Toy Train (started in 1903)
The entire journey (96 km) is laced with magnetic beauty. Rising from Kalka at 640 m, the rail track reaches Shimla which is at a height of 2060 m. The train twists its way uphill slowly to enable the passengers to enjoy the mesmerising beauty around.

DAY 11: IN DELHI
After breakfast visit Flag Staff tower, the first rallying point for the Europeans when the mutiny reached Delhi. Drive pass Ludlow castle (see outside only), then stop at Mutiny Monument (also known as AjitGarh) in the vicinity of Kashmiri gate. It is a strange Gothic 110 ft tall tower, a Mutiny Memorial. It is an octagonal, tapering tower built to commemorate the British and the Indians who fought on their side in 1857. Next we visit Brigadier General John Nicholson’s grave and the Ridge where the besieging British prepared for the assault from June to September 1857. Next halt is in Kashmiri Gate area – Built in 1835. It was raised as a defence against any attack from the direction of the Ludlow Castle, which was towards the north-west of the city. Within the vicinity of Kashmiri gate, a brief halt will be made at St. James Church.

DAY 12: DEPARTURE
After breakfast, transfer to International airport for onward journey.
